Participating In: Panel I: Game Developments and Business Models
Dan Ferguson has been designing games for over a decade and is considered by many to be one of the forefathers of Advergaming. In the late nineties he co-created the internet phenomenon Elf Bowling, the first independent PC game to reach over 7.5 million installs in one month. In 2001, Dan co-founded Blockdot, a leading producer and provider of casual games and company sponsored Advergames across multiple platforms, including the Internet, print, handheld and mobile devices. Dan leads Blockdot’s game group and drives the ideas that keeps this firm on the leading edge.
Blockdot has created over 800 games for a broad-range of brand name companies, including American Airlines, AT&T, Baskin-Robbins, Citibank, GlaxoSmithKline, Kraft, Microsoft, Motorola, M&Ms Brand, Nokia, Post Cereal, T.G.I. Friday’s, Universal Pictures and Verizon.
Millions of people play Blockdot games on its game site www.kewlbox.com, which consistently ranks as one of the Top 30 gaming portals on the Internet and is often used as the launching site for client Advergames. To date, Blockdot games have been played over 600 million times and are responsible for nearly 100 million hours of lost productivity. He apologizes.
Dan has won numerous awards for his work, including the prestigious Brandweek Magazine’s Marketer of the Next Generation Award and Adweek’s Buzz Award. He speaks at numerous game and marketing conferences every year as a subject matter expert in online marketing, Advergaming, casual games, interactive marketing, and video game design.
